YMCA Camp Carter in Fort Worth, TX seeks a part-time Chef's Assistant to support the Food Service Manager in preparing and serving meals for overnight camp, day camp, groups, and events. You will help with menu planning, cooking, and maintaining a clean dining environment.

This role offers hands-on training, apprenticeship, and coaching from a professional chef, with a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Experience in cooking or food service required; camp, institutional, or large-group cooking preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Food Service Manager in planning, preparing, and serving meals for groups of various sizes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining hall environment.
• Support in ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies.
• Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Supervise and assist kitchen volunteers or support staff as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to all guests, ensuring positive dining experiences.
• Work as part of the Food Service team to support the overall mission of YMCA Camp Carter.
