Job summary

The Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce seeks a Food Service Assistant to support meal prep, service, and kitchen operations. Working with the Food Service Manager, you will help plan menus, manage inventory, and ensure safety and quality across meals for guests.

Ideal candidates bring strong culinary skills, team spirit, and a commitment to excellent service, with weekend availability required to cover camp schedules and events.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in large-quantity cooking, retreat-style cooking, and nutrition.
• Experience with menu planning, food purchasing, and food service operations.
• Knowledge of health and sanitation standards and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious and appealing meals.
• Uphold quality standards in taste, presentation, and nutrition.
• Accommodate guests with special dietary needs with alternatives.
• Ensure safe service for guests with food allergies and ample food supply.
• Adhere to safety and temperature guidelines for prep, service, and storage.
• Collaborate on inventory, ordering, and meal planning with the director.
• Train and coach summer kitchen staff on techniques, safety, and philosophy.
• Provide ongoing feedback and develop training materials for staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
