Apply now for the Camp Kern Catering Coordinator role. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team at YMCA Camp Kern, located in Oregonia, OH.

Position Details:

  • Full-Time/Non-Exempt
  • Hourly Rate: $14.00 - $16.80

YMCA Camp Kern is known as the BEST camp in the nation and operates year-round, providing up to three meals daily to diverse groups including campers, school groups, and corporate clients. Our goal is to exceed guest expectations by offering high-quality, varied meal options to fuel their activities.

Position Summary

Collaborate with the Kitchen Operational Director and Kitchen Coordinator to develop transportable menus, oversee meal service quality, and ensure cleanliness and safety in the dining area.

Essential Functions
  • Lead in the absence of the Director or Kitchen Coordinator
  • Assist with food prep, service, and cleanup
  • Prepare and deliver meals across the camp
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and storage
  • Implement menus tailored to group types and budgets
  • Monitor supplies and report shortages
  • Ensure high standards of food quality and guest service
  • Set up buffet tables and facilitate smooth meal service
  • Follow safety procedures and report hazards
  • Work comfortably with large groups of children
  • Be available for long shifts, early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Provide dietary substitutions as needed
  • Assist with closing procedures and prepare for next day
  • Support other departments during slow periods to maintain full-time hours
  • Manage assigned staff members
  • Adhere to health department guidelines
  • Place food orders
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license (driver responsibilities require additional qualifications)
  • Desire to work in a camp kitchen environment
  • Level One or higher food service certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
