About this opportunity: (Seasonal)

This position is responsible for assisting with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The HR assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: departmental development, recruitment, HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits and compensation. The Human Resources Administrative Assistant also provides back-up relief to the Territorial Headquarters Receptionist on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Clean camp facilities and offices; collect, wash, fold, store, and distribute linens; ensure accountability of linens.
  • Maintain staff laundry schedule on rotation as well as daily laundering of staff laundry.
  • Wash all linens from dining room after each meal and ensure linen is restocked.
  • Wash camper’s laundry and return to counselor.
  • Assist in securing linens for campers without proper linens.
  • Monitor light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order; replace as necessary.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms; clean sinks and toilets, polish mirrors, and replenish supplies.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wax floors; sweep sidewalks.
  • Clean windows; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Participate enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team in evening programs, special events, overnights, and other camp activities.
  • Sit with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed.
  • Keep personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
  • Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, or abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements include endurance such as climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate housekeeping and laundry equipment. Must have normal hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate camper activities and programs, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours, with exposure to sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.
