Job summary

The YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Camp Evergreen First Aid Director for the seasonal program. The role focuses on implementing the camp's medical plan, supervising daily health checks, and managing medication per physician guidelines.

Responsibilities include reviewing consent forms, recording injuries, handling emergencies, and communicating health matters with parents and supervisors. Strong organization and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills.
• Brings maturity, responsibility and a sincere interest in working with people.
• Knowledge of YMCA goals and mission.

Responsibilities

• Review medication consent forms.
• Distribute medication per doctor’s instructions.
• Conduct daily health surveillance of campers.
• Record injuries and illnesses in medical log.
• Handle all medical emergencies and notify Health Department within 24 hours.
• Notify supervisors when 911 is necessary.
• Notify Health Department of suspected communicable diseases within 24 hours.
• Review campers’ medical history before arrival and keep updated.
• Communicate health matters with parents and emergency personnel.
• Ensure Health Department compliance and prepare overnight medical supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Medical Cabin and inventory of supplies.
• Attend staff training, meetings, and camp functions.
• Be available daily according to camp schedule and support staff.
