Job summary

Galileo Learning seeks an experienced Camp Director to lead our K–8 summer camps across multiple sites. You will open and operate a Camp Galileo location, manage a seasonal team of educators, and ensure exceptional camper and family experiences with strong program quality and customer care.

The role requires fierce ownership, safety focus, and the ability to balance operational details with engaging curriculum.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working directly with students in an education setting (out-of-school time, teaching, education administration, camps/recreation).
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing or supervising adult staff.
• Experience creating safe, inclusive environments for children and building trust with families.
• Experience setting clear expectations, giving ongoing feedback, and coaching staff to improve.
• Ability to manage operational details like scheduling, staffing, and payroll.
• Calm, decisive leadership in fast-paced situations, including safety issues and conversations with families.
• Strong written and verbal communication with families, partners, and supervisors.
• Hands-on, project-based learning experience (STEAM, art, design, maker programs) is a plus.
• Availability for part-time remote work starting Feb 2026 and full-time on-site work starting June 2026 (locations vary).
• Willingness to travel regionally for up to 3 in-person marketing events in the preseason.
• Ability to complete all required training before camp begins.
• Ability to meet state requirements to work with children, including mandated screenings and First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead camp operations and serve as the site General Manager and public face of Galileo.
• Open and operate a Camp Galileo location and oversee a dynamic seasonal team.
• Uphold program quality, foster creativity, and deliver excellence in customer care, curriculum, and team leadership.
• Ensure camper safety, family trust, and program fidelity at all times.
• Train, mentor, and manage staff scheduling, payroll, and performance reviews.
• Collaborate with Field Program Manager and community partners to build strong relationships.
