Job Summary
To lead, direct, coordinate, facilitate, and supervise a quality Before and Afterschool Camp, which includes developmentally appropriate activities engaging children ages 3-12 in Recreational, Educational, and Cultural programs. This position manages all administrative functions of a licensed childcare program and supervises Camp staff.
Position Summary
- Manage daily operation of a childcare camp program ensuring compliance with the Department of Children and Families, YoungStar, and MKE Recreation Department.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging enrichment programs daily.
- Recruit, orient, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate camp staff performance.
- Collaborate with the principal and day school staff to recruit and retain students for camp activities.
- Communicate regularly with the School Principal, Recreation Supervisor, and staff to discuss successes and areas for improvement.
- Maintain all paperwork including billing, payroll, attendance, student and staff files, incident reports, and program plans.
- Conduct annual reviews with Principals and Recreation Supervisors on camp performance.
- Ensure compliance with DCF Health and Safety Checklist and 251 requirements.
- Attend relevant meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Act as liaison between camp staff and school personnel.
- Initiate parental contact as needed and maintain appropriate staff-to-student ratios.
- Ensure provision of meals and snacks, procure lunches if necessary.
- Report emergencies and incidents promptly and complete required reports.
- Regularly evaluate the camp program for quality and safety.
- Ensure a safe, educational, and recreational environment for children.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Experience supervising staff and working with children preferred.
- Enjoy working with children.
Orientation and Training
- Complete required training within five days of hire, including Abusive Head Trauma, Child Maltreatment, Mandated Reporter, DPI Medication, and Registry Profile.
- Complete CPR/AED and Abusive Head Trauma in-person training within 120 days of hire.
- Complete additional training such as Child Care Profession Introduction, Skills and Strategies, and Child Care Administration Credential within 270 days, based on Registry profile requirements.
