Job Summary
To assist the Director in coordinating, facilitating, and supervising a quality Before & After School Camp, which includes developmentally appropriate activities engaging children ages 3-12 in recreational, educational, and cultural programs. This position also supports the Camp Director with administrative functions and supervises camp staff.
Position Summary
- Support daily operations of the childcare camp program, ensuring compliance with the Department of Children and Families, YoungStar, and MKE Recreation Department standards.
- Assist with recruitment, supervision, orientation, training, and coaching of camp staff as required.
- Collaborate with the director, principal, and day school staff to recruit and retain students for camp activities.
- Maintain all necessary paperwork including billing, fee collection, payroll, attendance, student and staff files, incident reports, supply requisitions, program plans, budgets, assessments, and improvement plans.
- Participate in annual reviews of camp performance with the director, principal, and Recreation Supervisor, and support the review process at year-end.
- Ensure compliance with DCF Health and Safety Checklist and DCF 251 requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging enrichment programs daily.
- Communicate pertinent camp information and emergencies to parents.
- Oversee program in the absence of the Director, maintaining appropriate staff-to-student ratios.
- Ensure all meals and snacks are provided as scheduled, procuring lunches for field trips as needed.
- Report all medical emergencies and incidents involving police immediately, completing required reports.
- Regularly evaluate the camp program for quality and compliance.
- Create a safe, constructive educational and recreational environment for children.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or Recreation Supervisor.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Experience supervising staff and working with children preferred.
- Enjoy working with children.
Orientation within five days of hire:
- Abusive Head Trauma video (completed successfully)
- Child Maltreatment Training Video (renew every two years)
- Mandated Reporter Training (renew every two years)
- DPI Medication Training Video (annual demonstration and renewal every four years)
- A Registry Profile linked to the assigned Camp Program
Training within 90 days:
- Current CPR/AED certification (renewed as required)
Additional Training within 270 days:
- Introduction to the Child Care Profession
- Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher
- One Course in the WI Child Care Administration Credential
