Base pay range

$17.00/hr - $17.00/hr

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for supervising children enrolled in the Kids Summer Adventure program. This is a seasonal position running from 6/26/25 to 8/1/25, Monday through Friday, 35 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead activities and games during the program.
• Uphold program policies and rules.
• Ensure children are on time for all activities.
• Monitor children at all times.
• Report any health or emotional issues observed in children to Corps Officers.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 2 years related experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
• Ability to motivate others and take charge.
• Experience working with diverse age groups and demographics.
• Ability to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations, and respond appropriately.
• Enthusiasm, patience, humor, and self-control.
• College students/graduates with previous camp or childcare experience preferred.
• Valid NY State Driver License meeting insurance requirements.
• Ability to represent The Salvation Army professionally and ethically.
