Job description

Job Title: Camp Activities Specialist

FLSA Status: Part Time - Exempt, Temporary
Reports to: Program Director

Schedule: varies
Supervises: n/a

Rate of Pay: $400/Week for 8 Weeks

Closing Date: 05/27/2025

Benefits: Temporary; Part-Time, Exempt employees are eligible for benefits including sick leave (1 day per month, 12 days per year), with pro-rated accrual for part-time hours.

Function: Assists with monitoring and providing safe procedures across camp activities. Supports operation and maintenance of program activities and equipment. Adheres to the Camp Code of Conduct, supports the Christian camping and ministry culture, and upholds the mission and practices of The Salvation Army.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. General Duties:
  • Participate in evening programs, spiritual activities, staff orientation, camp-wide activities, and devotions.
  • Maintain cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  • Assist with camp clean-up at the end of each session and summer.
  • Assist with evening cabin supervision and camper check-in/check-out.
  • Specific Duties:
    • Ensure safety and supervise activities, enforce camp policies, and maintain health and well-being of self and campers.
    • Practice safety regulations, emergency procedures, and ensure compliance with ACA standards.
    • Coordinate daily program components and attend relevant trainings.
    • Support various program areas, including high ropes, zipline, rock wall, etc., based on experience and need.
    • Facilitate Challenge Course programming, enforce “Challenge By Choice,” and maintain equipment.
    • Assist with rainy day activities, overnight campouts, and campfire programs.
    • Perform additional duties as needed, including assisting in duties outside the specific job description to ensure smooth camp operation.

    Qualifications and Education:

    • Positive attitude with leadership ability.
    • Must be 18+ years old.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).
    • Experience with camp activities; ACCT Level 1 or equivalent preferred.
    • Ability to use positive behavior management techniques and adapt to challenging situations.
    • Supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission and high standards of conduct.

    Physical Requirements: Ability to maneuver, remain stationary, grasp, push, pull, reach overhead, lift 25 pounds, operate a telephone, and use a computer. Reasonable accommodations may be requested to perform essential duties.
