BlockReel is seeking a skilled 1st Assistant Camera for an upcoming Austin-based feature. You will pull focus precisely, maintain camera gear, and generate camera reports, collaborating with the DP to achieve a gritty neo-noir look.

The role requires experience with Arri Alexa or Sony Venice, ownership of a basic toolkit, and strong communication. Shoot spans ~18–20 days across Nov–Dec 2026; meals, craft services, and local transport provided; backend backend percentage offered.

An independent production based in Austin, TX, is actively seeking a skilled and experienced 1st Assistant Camera for an upcoming feature film. This project is a gritty neo-noir thriller set against the backdrop of the city's underground music scene, focusing on themes of betrayal and redemption. We're aiming for a stylized, atmospheric look with a strong visual narrative. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a passion project with a dedicated, small team. Your primary responsibilities will include pulling focus accurately in demanding situations, maintaining camera equipment, preparing camera reports, and collaborating closely with the DP. We are looking for someone with a strong background in narrative features or high-end shorts, excellent communication skills, and a meticulous eye for detail. Ownership of a basic toolkit is expected. Experience with digital cinema cameras, specifically Arri Alexa or Sony Venice, is a must. Shoot dates are approximately 18-20 days spread across November 2026 and December 2026, with some potential for additional pickup days. Hours will be typical 10-12 hour days. Production will provide meals, craft services, and crew transportation to and from set if needed within the Austin area. This is a deferred compensation position, with a backend percentage offered.
