Job summary

Gulf Coast JFCS is seeking a CAM Specialist to support the Coordinated Access Model for Pinellas County. You will assess client needs, schedule mental health or substance use services, and coordinate with partners to ensure smooth access to care.

The role requires a Master’s level clinician intern or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, plus licensure in FL preferred. Strong communication, empathy, and independent work habits are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's level clinician intern or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of professional experience.
• Clinical licensure in FL strongly preferred.
• Experience conducting screenings, assessments, and navigating behavioral health and SUD landscape.
• Empathy and passion for helping vulnerable populations.
• Ability to set priorities and work independently with SOPs.
• Friendly, compassionate, and able to communicate with clients and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Follow contractual requirements for CAM clients seeking mental health or SUD services.
• Conduct short biopsychosocial assessments, LOCUS, and other screenings.
• Connect clients with appropriate services by scheduling provider appointments.
• Correspond with service providers to facilitate seamless client experiences.
• Conduct follow-up with clients and providers to ensure receipt of services/benefits.
• Provide feedback to community-based organizations to meet program standards and metrics.
• Expand knowledge of community resources and build relationships with platform users.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The CAM Specialist is an exempt position responsible for supporting the Pinellas County Coordinated Access Model (CAM), or Care About Me, by utilizing a designated platform and offering the support and guidance needed to streamline access to mental health and substance use disorder services. Specialists are platform experts who interact directly with clients seeking services and with partners that provide resources and support to CAM clients. Specialists can conduct client needs assessments and assist clients in identifying and scheduling appointments for mental health or substance use disorder services to meet their needs.

• Follow contractual requirements for CAM clients who may be seeking assistance for mental health and/or substance use disorder services.
• Conduct short biopsychosocial assessments, LOCUS, and other screenings for clients seeking assistance.
• Connect clients with the most appropriate services based on their needs, eligibility, and geographic preference by scheduling appointments with providers.
• Correspond with service providers to facilitate a seamless experience for clients seeking services when applicable.
• Conduct follow-up with clients and service providers to ensure receipt of services/benefits.
• Provide supportive feedback to community-based organizations serving Pinellas County residents to ensure program standards and metrics are met.
• Continuously expand knowledge of community resources, services, and programs to understand community issues and build relationships with other users of the Unit platform
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• Master's level clinician registered as an intern.
  • or, Bachelor’s degree with five (5) plus years of professional experience.
  • Clinical licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT etc.) in the state of FL strongly preferred.
• Experience in conducting screenings, assessments, and navigating the behavioral health and substance use disorder landscape.
• Empathy and passion for helping vulnerable populations.
• Ability to set priorities and work independently while following standard operating procedures.
• Friendly and compassionate; comfortable communicating directly with clients in need and community-based organizations.
• Resourceful and fast-paced; able to conduct quick, exhaustive online research
• Bilingual or multilingual a plus (Spanish, highly desirable as a common spoken language for most clients served)
• Advanced computer skills and are a quick learner of new technologies and tools.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
• Ability to lift or carry up to 25lbs when required.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
