Job summary

McWane Plant & Industrial in Alabama is seeking an experienced CAM Programmer to build optimized machining programs for production runs of captive large valves and drawings, design fixtures, and utilize CAM knowledge with various tooling to produce accurate parts.

The role requires developing programs for CNC mills and lathes, translating CAD data, and creating user-friendly programs for operators while continually improving manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in CAM programming and fixture design.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Advanced computer skills required.
• Must possess a minimum skillset of a Machine Operator II.
• Experience in CAM software (SolidCam).
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to work as a team player and communicate outside your department.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAM programs for CNC mills and lathes, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines.
• Translate CAD data to CAM format and prepare offline programs.
• Design tooling and fixturing for production.
• Lead CAM program development for Alabama Dynamics and projects.
• Troubleshoot and edit programs at machines as needed.
• Support operators with program and tolerance questions.
