Job summary

McWane Plant & Industrial in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to help ensure smooth operations by developing and optimizing machining processes for large valve components, including rotating disk, butterfly, and EPV bodies.

You will program directly at the machine, train operators, analyze tooling and feeds, and collaborate with CAM and Continuous Improvement. This role requires strong turning experience and the ability to work safely in a heavy-industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years machining experience with turning focus and manual CNC programming.
• Proficiency with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to read blueprints and machining fundamentals.
• Experience with large, heavy, variable cast parts is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prove-out machining processes for large valve components.
• Create and modify CNC programs at the machine (G-code or conversational).
• Set up and run large turning equipment (vertical/horizontal lathes).
• Train machinists on setup, program edits, process understanding.
• Drive improvements in setup reduction, throughput, and consistency.
• Plan and implement procedures to improve safety and quality.
