Job Description And Duties

This position receives functional guidance from a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent. This position is critical in assisting a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent in maintaining the District Equipment Inventory and meeting Maintenance equipment needs. This position will be using the Cal-Card system and working with Equipment contracts. This position will also be the backup Communication Coordinator for District 7. This position is part of District 7 Satellite Communication system team (SAT COMM). This position is on a Monday to Friday 5/40 work schedule, the work location will be at Shop 7. The incumbent must have possession of a valid Class C Driver License. This position is part of a State Emergency Response Team may need to travel throughout the State.

Working Conditions

Location: 13204 Golden State Road, Sylmar, CA 91342

The primary workstation is in a climate controlled office under artificial lighting at Shop 7. This position will require this individual to travel throughout the State to attend meetings and to various Regions or crew offices. The employee may be scheduled to work nights and weekends for emergency overtime due to storms, callbacks, special work projects and to meet operational needs for the Department. The employee might be required to work outside in a wide range of extreme conditions like strong winds, rain, sleet, snow and extreme heat and cold. This position is part of a State Emergency Response Team may need to travel throughout the State. The employee will also be working in a climate controlled trailer with artificial lighting at Shop 7 when conducting Communication work.
