Job summary

New Directions Northwest in Baker City, Oregon, is seeking a compassionate Detox/Respite Technician to support clients receiving medical detoxification and crisis respite services. You will work with RNs, MAs, and behavioral health staff to maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

No medical certification is required. The role emphasizes calm, dignity, and teamwork, with training in trauma-informed care and infection-control practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to successfully complete the background check.
• Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to complete required OHA/OAR training within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in behavioral health, detoxification, or similar support role is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor clients and promptly communicate behavioral or physical changes to nursing or medical staff.
• Conduct safety and wellness checks.
• Support clients in following program expectations and participating in treatment activities.
• Provide calm, trauma-informed support to clients in distress.
• Observe for signs of withdrawal or medical distress and notify licensed staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe treatment environment.
• Accurately document observations and client activities.
