Job summary

Providence is seeking a Communication Specialist to support the Answering Service Center for hospitals and clinics in Montana. You will manage telephone calls, faxes, paging and messages with prompt, courteous service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The role includes after-hours coverage for providers and coordination of critical communications equipment repairs across Providence St. Patrick Hospital and affiliated clinics. This is a part-time position with evening shifts in Missoula.

Qualifications

• One year of office or healthcare experience.
• Experience operating a hospital switchboard preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Description

The Communication Specialist is at the core of the Answering Service Center and performs services for these multiple hospitals, clinics and physician groups throughout WMR. The Communication Specialist has three primary areas of responsibility:

• Perform duties as a hospital Switchboard (PBX) operator for multiple hospitals (including all internal departments), clinics, provider practices and groups within the WMR. The Communication Specialist handles customer's telephone calls, faxes, paging and messages promptly and courteously in a timely manner.
• Serve as an After Hours Answering Service for multiple providers, hospitals, clinics and critical service providers within the WMR. Ensure that after-hours patient-to-provider; provider-to-provider calls; and office messages are expedited according to the emergent nature of the call.
• Coordinate critical communications equipment repair for St. Patrick Hospital providers and staff as well as providers and staff of associated clinics and practices.

Required Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience in an office or healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior employment as an operator.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
