Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo, CA-based hard-tech company, seeks a California Legislative Director to own state policy, siting, and permitting work. This hands-on role shapes legislation and deployment strategies while collaborating with engineering, regulatory, legal, and operations teams.

You’ll engage policymakers, lead lobbying efforts, and coordinate external advisors. The position is 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA, with optional remote from Sacramento for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in California government affairs, public policy, regulatory engagement, or related roles in regulated industries.
• Proven ability to influence state-level policy or regulatory outcomes.
• Strong understanding of California legislative processes and permitting environments.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-moving environments.
• Clear, confident communicator with policymakers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Work across a national footprint, focused initially on California and other priority states for deployment.
• Develop and implement state legislation, regulations, rulemakings, and executive actions for siting and permitting of power generation assets.
• Lead engagement with state regulators and public utility commissions; represent the company in hearings and industry forums.
• Hire, manage, and coordinate external lobbyists and advisors; align strategy with company goals.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate technical concepts into policy positions.
• Track state-level policy developments and provide actionable leadership guidance.
• Ensure compliance with state ethics, lobbying, and disclosure requirements.
