Job summary

Radiant seeks a California Legislative Director to own state-level government engagement for a hard-tech company operating at the intersection of aerospace, defense, and energy. The role focuses on shaping policy, enabling deployment, and unlocking site opportunities in California and priority states.

You will collaborate with engineering, regulatory, legal, and operations teams while representing Radiant with policymakers and regulators in California and key states.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in California government affairs or related roles.
• Proven ability to influence state-level policy or regulatory outcomes.
• Strong understanding of California legislative processes and permitting.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and fast-moving environments.
• Clear, confident communicator with policymakers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Work across a national footprint, initially California, for deployment.
• Develop and ensure state legislation, regulations, and actions affecting siting and permitting.
• Lead engagement with state regulators and public utility commissions.
• Hire, manage, and coordinate external lobbyists.
• Translate technical concepts into policy positions.
• Track and shape state policy developments and guide leadership.
• Ensure compliance with ethics and disclosure requirements.
