Job summary

Reyes Holdings, L.L.C. is seeking an employment attorney to provide practical legal guidance to HR professionals and company leaders on day-to-day employment law matters in California. The role focuses on wage-hour issues, discrimination, harassment, leave compliance, and policy development.

The attorney will manage a docket of matters with outside counsel, respond to demand letters, and deliver trainings to HR staff. Some travel is required, and union experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school with 4–6 years of employment law experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to HR and company leaders on employment law issues.
• Advise on ADA interactive process discussions, FMLA and leave-related compliance.
• Manage docket of employment law litigation with outside counsel.
• Respond to attorney demand letters and agency charges.
• Develop company policies in response to applicable legal developments.
• Develop and deliver training to HR on employment law topics.
• Occasional travel (0–10%).
• Other projects or duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities:

• Providing knowledgeable and practical legal advice to human resources professionals and other company leaders regarding day-to-day employment law issues, including discipline, performance management, non-discrimination, non-harassment, wage and hour practices, background checks and drug testing, and employment law compliance issues
• Providing guidance to human resources professionals on ADA interactive process discussions, FMLA and other leave-related compliance issues
• Managing a docket of employment law litigation matters in coordination with outside employment counsel
• Responding to attorney demand letters and agency administrative charges involving employment-related claims
• Developing company policies and associated materials in response to applicable legal developments
• Developing and delivering training to HR professionals on employment law topics
• Occasional travel when required (0%-10%)
• Other projects or duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school with 4 to 6 years of experience as an employment attorney handling a wide range of employment matters and litigation, with an emphasis on California employment law.
• Admission to California state bar with an active license, or satisfaction of requirements for registered in-house practice in the State of California.
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal issues.
• Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through; excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with union-represented work forces is preferred.
