Job summary

Caliday is seeking a School Age Teacher to support the before and after care program for school-age children. You will implement engaging activities, uphold the Caliday mission, and provide a safe, learning-focused environment.

You will assist the Program Director, supervise children, maintain classroom safety, communicate with parents, and ensure compliance with MSDE-OCC regulations. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• AA or BA in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or similar field.
• 45 clock hours in Child Development birth through school-age and 45 clock hours in Curriculum for School Age Care.
• 9 hours training in communicating with staff/parents/public plus CPR/First Aid, Health & Safety, ADA.
• 400 hours of experience with school-age children in a professional setting.

Caliday School Age Teachers assist the Program Director in the operations of the before and after care program for school age children; implementing activities to ensure the Caliday mission, vision and values are upheld, and the children are provided with a safe and learning environment. To provide support and direction to the teacher assistant.

Essential Functions:

• Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
• Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
• Implements activities that are age-appropriate and stimulating in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum; manages effective classroom management.
• Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
• Maintains open and effective communication with team, parents and school community.
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
• Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the other team members to resolve.
• Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have an AA or bachelor’s degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or a similar discipline OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care
• The ideal candidate will have the 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training certificate, Basic Health and Safety training certificate and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
• Candidates are required to have 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.
