Calibrations Technician

The Calibration Technician is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of measurement and inspection equipment used throughout the plant. This position performs scheduled and as-needed calibration, verification, inspection, and documentation of precision measuring equipment and ship instruments to ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform calibration and verification of precision measurement and inspection equipment, including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, bore gages, gauge blocks, thread gauges, scales and other shop measuring instruments.
  • Perform calibration using appropriate standards, procedures, and reference equipment.
  • Maintain calibration records, certificates, equipment histories, and due-date tracking.
  • Ensure all calibration equipment and standards are properly identified and traceable.
  • Inspect measuring equipment for damage, wear, contamination, or other conditions that could affect accuracy.
  • Identify, tag, and appropriately control equipment that is out of calibration or otherwise unsuitable for use.
  • Assist with determining potential impact of out-of-tolerance measuring equipment on previously completed inspections or products.
  • Maintain accurate calibration database or tracking system and ensure calibration intervals are monitored.
  • Coordinate outside calibration services when equipment requires specialized calibration or certification.
  • Assist with internal quality audits and customer audits related to calibration and measurement systems.
  • Ensure calibration activities are performed in accordance with established procedures and applicable customer, regulatory, and quality-system requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled calibration area.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
