Job summary

Transcat in Chesterfield, MO is seeking an entry‑level Technician Trainee to learn calibration techniques in our lab environment. You will work under supervision, develop practical skills, and progress toward a Technician Apprentice role within six months.

Responsibilities include learning calibration processes, performing measurements with guidance, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Strong math and basic tools knowledge are helpful; HS diploma required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to learn new skills regarding calibration and calibration processes.
  • Previous experience with electronic or machining training is helpful.
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics.
  • Familiarity with basic tools required.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook is expected.

Technician trainee is an entry‑level position, requiring no prior experience. Trainees are expected to learn the skills and processes necessary to perform calibration work within the lab environment. Trainees will work with other technicians within the lab to learn calibration fundamentals which can include measurement, temperature, electronics, etc.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision and direction of technicians within the lab and in training programs, learn fundamental calibration techniques and processes
  • Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Primary Objectives
  • Learn fundamental calibration techniques and processes
  • Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
  • Develop skills necessary to advance to Technician Apprentice position within six (6) months of employment
  • Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Qualifications
  • Ability to learn new skills regarding calibration and calibration processes
  • Previous experience with electronic or machining training
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
  • Familiarity with basic tools
  • Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic organizational and time management skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
