Calibration Technician II

Take Your Technical Skills To The Next Level.

National Calibration Inc. (NCI) is looking for skilled, motivated technicians who enjoy solving problems, working with precision equipment, and continuing to build their technical expertise.

Calibration Technician II

Take Your Technical Skills To The Next Level.

National Calibration Inc. (NCI) is looking for skilled, motivated technicians who enjoy solving problems, working with precision equipment, and continuing to build their technical expertise.

As a Calibration Technician II, you’ve already developed a solid technical foundation. You understand the importance of accurate measurements, following procedures, documenting your work, and delivering quality results. Now you’re ready to work more independently, expand the range of equipment you can calibrate, and continue developing into an advanced calibration professional.

You don’t need to know everything. We’re looking for people with strong fundamentals, good judgment, technical curiosity, and the drive to keep learning.

What You’ll Do

As a Calibration Technician II, you’ll perform calibrations with increasing independence while continuing to expand your technical knowledge and capabilities.

You Will
  • Calibrate a variety of precision measuring and test equipment within your qualified disciplines
  • Set up and operate calibration standards and test equipment safely and correctly
  • Use instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, multimeters, and other mechanical or electronic measurement equipment
  • Interpret measurement results, tolerances, specifications, and technical requirements
  • Accurately record calibration data and complete required documentation
  • Identify and document equipment that is outside of tolerance or produces questionable results
  • Troubleshoot measurement problems and recognize when additional investigation or assistance is needed
  • Review procedures, technical specifications, and manufacturer information needed to complete calibrations
  • Develop and apply your understanding of measurement uncertainty, traceability, accuracy, and other calibration principles
  • Follow NCI’s Quality System and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Maintain calibration standards, laboratory equipment, and organized work areas
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, customer service, and other departments
  • Assist newer technicians when appropriate and continue cross-training in additional equipment types and technical disciplines
  • Take ownership of the quality, accuracy, and documentation of your work
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who has developed solid technical skills and is ready for greater independence and responsibility.

A Successful Calibration Technician II Will
  • Have previous calibration experience or comparable hands‑on technical experience
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical, electrical, dimensional, or analytical aptitude
  • Be comfortable using common precision measurement equipment
  • Work confidently with numbers, tolerances, specifications, and technical data
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Follow established procedures while recognizing when something doesn’t look right
  • Approach technical problems logically and methodically
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate clearly and maintain accurate documentation
  • Be comfortable using computers and technical software
  • Take responsibility for the quality of their work
  • Be willing to continue learning and expanding their technical capabilities

Experience in calibration, metrology, electronics, machining, manufacturing, quality inspection, testing, engineering, maintenance, or another precision technical field is valuable.

Equivalent technical experience and demonstrated ability are just as important to us as a specific degree or career path.
What Makes Someone Successful at Level II

A Level II technician is more than someone who can follow a calibration procedure.

You should be developing the ability to understand why you are performing each step, recognize when results don’t make sense, and know when to investigate further or ask for assistance.

We value technicians who are curious, careful, dependable, and willing to take ownership of their work. You won’t be expected to know everything — but you will be expected to keep learning.

Physical Requirements
  • Work throughout the day at laboratory benches and equipment stations, including periods of standing, walking, reaching, and sitting
  • Safely handle tools, instruments, calibration standards, and precision equipment
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch as needed to handle equipment
  • Safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances, with assistance when appropriate
Why NCI

At NCI, we believe strong technicians are developed through a combination of training, experience, curiosity, and opportunity. As your skills grow, so can your responsibilities.

Level II technicians have opportunities to expand into additional disciplines, work with increasingly sophisticated equipment, develop advanced troubleshooting skills, and progress toward senior technical and leadership roles.

We Offer
  • Continued technical training and development
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Cross-training in additional calibration disciplines
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • A professional, team-oriented work environment
  • Exposure to a wide variety of precision equipment and technologies
  • A career path that rewards growing technical knowledge and capability
