Job summary

PCB Piezotronics, Inc. in New York state is seeking a Calibration Technician to perform basic tests and calibrations on manufactured products under supervision. You will use meters, pumps, dead weight testers, shakers and test chambers while following written procedures.

The role requires a two-year technical degree and at least four years of calibration experience; familiarity with sensor designs is a plus. Safety and documentation are essential components of daily work.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree in mechanical or electrical technology; in-house training provided.
  • At least four years of experience in calibration and measurements.
  • Familiar with sensor designs within a product group.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine electrical, mechanical and environmental tests and calibrations on PCB products.
  • Follow ESD procedures as outlined in the ESD manual.
  • Execute tests according to product routers; document steps with legible signatures and dates.
  • Ensure products meet test/calibration specifications and report any deviations to Leadership.
  • Assist in training less experienced Technicians and contribute to procedure improvements.
  • Monitor test equipment calibration stickers; report expirations and issues to Leadership.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and perform other duties to support department operations.

Job description

Primary Objective:

Follows all PCB procedures and forms in compliance to ISO 9001.

Performs a variety of basic tests on manufactured products by following written procedures, under close supervision. Utilizes basic electrical and mechanical test equipment such as meters, pressure pumps, dead weight testers, shakers and test chambers.

Observes all safety precautions per department guidelines when operating test equipment, especially when handling liquid nitrogen, operating testing ovens and when performing ballistic tests.

Major Areas of Accountability
  • Responsible for performing routine electrical, mechanical and environmental tests and calibrations on most PCB products.
  • Responsible for understanding and using proper ESD procedures as outlined in the ESD manual.
  • Performs all necessary tests efficiently and accurately by following established written procedures; follows steps on the product job router, writes legibly, signs and dates traveler when steps are completed.
  • Responsible for making sure that all products meet established test and/or calibration specifications and for notifying Leadership when they do not.
  • Assists in the training and development of less experienced Technicians; may provide limited input to the development of testing procedures, equipment or automated testing programs.
  • Ensures that test equipment calibration stickers are not expired before using and notifies Leadership if expired or close to expiration; communicates with Leadership concerning any problems with product testing equipment.
  • Follows safety rules and keeps area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs other related duties as directed to ensure efficient operation of department and PCB.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education

Two-year technical degree in mechanical or electrical technology or equivalent. Training in-house, on the job, specific to product-line.

Experience

At least four years of experience in a related field involving device calibration and measurements.

Familiar with most concepts of sensor designs within a product group.
