Job summary

FCX Performance is seeking a Calibration Technician II to join our Raleigh, NC team. You will perform calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate GxP documentation, maintain equipment, and support client projects.

Travel up to 50% is required; a two-year degree is required; safety and regulatory compliance are emphasized in daily tasks. This role offers learning opportunities within a national calibration services network.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or equivalent military training in life sciences or engineering fields.
• Experience with GMP/Life Science regulations is preferred.
• Ability to work with instrumentation and perform calibrations and testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate GxP documentation.
• Conduct flow, conductivity, pH, mass and dimensional calibrations under guidance.
• Identify potential opportunities for client services and relay leads to leadership.
• Complete timesheets with correct labor codes weekly.
• Maintain and test PCI/client equipment and standards.
• Learn troubleshooting and repairs while scheduling calibrations and maintenance.
• Identify and report safety issues at the site and educate peers on safety practices.

Job description

The Calibration Technician II reports directly to the Team Leader, Manager, or Director depending on the organizational structure. These positions are non-exempt. Travel up to 50% may be required based on project and client needs. Position is eligible for company vehicle.

Expectations

Calibration Technicians complete calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI and/or client specific policies and procedures. They are expected to take a proactive role in supporting the Team and in providing client support and are expected to build a high level of trust with internal and client personnel. This trust is developed through consistently upholding PCI Values and demonstrating Honesty, Integrity, Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment.

In addition to the above expectations, the Tech II is expected to have a broader knowledge base of instrumentation and regulatory compliance. They will continue to train on new instrumentation areas and build an understanding of pharmaceutical and FDA requirements. Increased client interaction will occur and the Tech II will develop a deeper understanding of PCI’s services and how clients can expand the use of these services.

Responsibilities/Assignments

Calibration Technician II

• With minor supervision, completes calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI or client specific policies and procedures, and in a safe manner.
• With guidance, able to perform flow, conductivity, pH, mass and dimensional calibrations.
• Is attune to potential new opportunities for PCI when at a client site or interacting with a client and relays this lead back to Leader/Manager.
• Completes timesheets with correct labor code charges (weekly) and assists other PCI Associates in proper coding of time and expenses.
• Responsible for proper handling and maintenance of PCI and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
• Learning to troubleshooting and perform repairs, but the majority of work will continue to be scheduled calibrations and maintenance events.
• Able to identify and report any safety issues at the work site, including educating peers on safety practices.

Skills Required

Calibration Technician II

• Expanded understanding of Traceability, Substitution of Standards, and Test Accuracy and Uncertainty Ratios.
• Expanded understanding of calibration concepts and requirements including accuracy testing requirements.
• Able to make independent decisions within defined scope of work, seeks clarification and directions when needed. Must be self-driven and demonstrate ability to work with little direction.
• Basic understanding and application of GMP’s and Life Science Industry regulations.
• Basic understanding and application of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
• Basic understanding of calibration concepts and requirements including accuracy testing requirements.

A two-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, other related technical field or equivalent military training and two years of applicable (Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration) experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Quality System/Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
