Job summary

Blue Canyon Technologies in Lafayette, CO, is seeking a Calibration Technician II to plan, lead, and perform technical activities and grow into a subject matter expert. You will train teams, drive lean QA, and work closely with Quality, Production Planning, and suppliers to maintain calibration programs.

Qualifications

  • AA.S./AS in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Aerospace/defense, electronics contract manufacturing, or high-precision machining experience preferred.
  • Calibration programs knowledge; ISO17025 preferred.
  • Proficient data entry; MS Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of material flow and calibration importance.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100; AS9100 preferred.
  • Related technical experience considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Find ways to continuously improve processes in their area.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving department process documentation.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing principles related to quality assurance.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment and maintain effective relationships.
  • Follow safety practices and suggest improvements to management.
  • Assist with the calibration program; manage tools, scheduling, data collection, and records.
  • Interface with calibration suppliers for tool shipments, returns, and repairs.
  • Initiate NCRs and drive risk/actions for OOT tools.
  • Operate X-ray equipment.
  • Participate in audits of the calibration system.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

Calibration Technician II will plan, lead, and perform technical activities. The Calibration Technician II will grow to be considered a Subject Matter Expert in their assigned position and be responsible for training, improvement, and independent problem solving in their area. The Calibration Technician II will regularly interface with Quality Engineering, Production Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Test as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and in corporate directives for the safe performance of daily activities. Proactively suggest improvements and elevate issues to management.
  • Assistwiththe calibration program.Make sure all tools that need to be in the program are included, that they get sent out and returned on the correct frequency, the needed data is obtained, and the quality records are kept.Helplocatemissing tools.
  • Interface with calibration suppliers to get tools sent out, returned, and repaired if necessary.
  • Start NCRs and shepherdthe determination of risk/actions when OOT tools are received.
  • Operate x-ray equipment.
  • Beinvolved inaudits of the calibration system.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components as needed.
  • Otherresponsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Education
  • A.A.S. or A.S. in a technicaldiscipline OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in aerospace/defense, electronics contract manufacturing, and/or high precision machining.
  • Experience with calibration programs and knowledge of ISO17025preferred.
  • Experience usingcomputers for data entry, item lookups,etc.Experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment and importance ofmeasuring tool calibration.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100requirements as it pertains to manufacturing and quality operations. AS9100 experience preferred.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
