Job summary

Planet Pharma is seeking a hands-on Calibration Technician / Metrology Technician to support GMP manufacturing operations on the production floor in New York. This field-based role focuses on calibration, troubleshooting, instrumentation maintenance, and metrology activities.

The position involves working in classified cleanrooms, collaborating with Metrology, Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, and reviewing records for compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in calibration/metrology in GMP environments.
• Strong instrumentation principles and troubleshooting.
• Experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Able to work an overnight shift schedule.
• Experience in cleanroom or controlled environments.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on calibration, adjustment, and maintenance of instrumentation and process equipment in GMP manufacturing areas.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, control devices, sensors, transmitters, and related equipment.
• Work within classified cleanroom and GMP environments while following gowning and contamination-control procedures.
• Review calibration records and certificates for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with site requirements.
• Collaborate with Metrology, Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve issues.
• Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate calibration documentation.
• Participate in corrective action, deviation, and continuous improvement activities as required.
• Safely handle and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Shift: 3rd Shift | Thursday Evening through Sunday Morning | 10:00 PM - 8:30 AM

Duration: Long-Term Contract (Staff Augmentation)

Pay Rate: $50-$60/hr (flexible for exceptional candidates)

Overview

Our client, a leading biotechnology and advanced manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands‑on Calibration Technician / Metrology Technician to support critical GMP manufacturing operations. This is a field‑based role within a regulated production environment and is not primarily a documentation or office‑based position.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time supporting manufacturing operations through hands‑on calibration, troubleshooting, instrumentation maintenance, and metrology activities. While some calibration documentation and certificate review activities are required, the primary focus is execution on the manufacturing floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on calibration, adjustment, and maintenance of instrumentation and process equipment throughout GMP manufacturing areas.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, control devices, sensors, transmitters, and related manufacturing equipment.
• Work within classified cleanroom and GMP production environments while following gowning and contamination‑control procedures.
• Review calibration records and certificates for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with site requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Metrology, Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve equipment and calibration issues.
• Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate and compliant calibration documentation.
• Participate in corrective action, deviation, and continuous improvement activities as required.
• Safely handle and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on calibration, metrology, instrumentation, or maintenance experience within a GMP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation principles, calibration techniques, and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Experience working directly in manufacturing or production environments.
• Ability to work a fixed overnight shift schedule.
• Prior experience working in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, sterile manufacturing, or GMP manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with calibration management systems and electronic documentation systems.
• Experience supporting highly automated production environments.
• Knowledge of GMP documentation practices, data integrity requirements, and regulatory expectations.
• Previous experience supporting manufacturing operations within a large‑scale commercial production facility.
