Job Title: Calibration SpecialistJob Description

The Calibration Specialist ensures the accuracy, precision, and reliability of instruments, meters, gauges, and other testing and measuring equipment used in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on calibration, routine inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of measurement devices to ensure they operate within defined tolerances and meet applicable industry standards, supporting the safe and consistent production of pharmaceutical and medical products.

Responsibilities
  • Calibrate a wide range of instruments, meters, gauges, and other testing and measuring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and monitoring of calibration equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with industry standards.
  • Use specialized tools, techniques, and instrumentation to test, adjust, and verify equipment performance within acceptable tolerances.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on measuring instruments and calibration equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Repair or coordinate repairs of instruments and equipment, and verify that they meet industry standards and functional requirements after service or upgrades.
  • Follow established calibration procedures and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent, accurate, and compliant results.
  • Support compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements by maintaining accurate, complete, and timely calibration records and documentation.
  • Ensure that measuring instruments used in pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing provide precise and reliable measurements critical to product quality and patient safety.
  • Identify potential issues, faults, or deviations in measuring equipment and determine effective troubleshooting solutions to resolve them.
  • Utilize specialized calibration and metrology software to plan, execute, track, and document calibration activities and results.
  • Perform calculations and interpret numerical data to verify measurement accuracy and calibration outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding calibration status, issues, and resolutions.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage workload, and complete calibration assignments within established deadlines to support production and quality schedules.
Essential Skills
  • Hands‑on experience with calibration and metrology for instruments, meters, gauges, and other testing and measuring equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and instrumentation calibration practices in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting measurement and instrumentation issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Ability to follow detailed calibration procedures and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Competence in using specialized calibration tools, equipment, and software to perform and document calibration activities.
  • Strong numerical skills, including the ability to perform calculations and interpret measurement data and calibration results.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background or training in calibration, metrology, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
  • Experience documenting calibration activities in compliance with GMP or similar regulatory standards.
  • Interest in building a long‑term career in the pharmaceutical industry and contributing to patient health and safety.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving procedures, technologies, and regulatory expectations in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment

This is an onsite role within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment that supports the production of pharmaceutical and medical products. The Calibration Specialist works hands‑on with a variety of instruments, meters, gauges, and other testing and measuring devices, using specialized calibration tools and software. The position involves close collaboration with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment readiness and compliance. The work setting emphasizes safety, adherence to documented procedures, and consistent, high‑quality execution of calibration and maintenance activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilson, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
