Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Technical Specialist to join the Calibration & Design team in Cortland, New York. You will perform calibration, maintenance, and documentation to ISO 17025 and related standards, coordinating with external vendors and internal databases.

The role includes creating calibration certificates, maintaining records, and supporting Design Services Engineers. A bachelor’s in the sciences or physics is preferred, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the sciences or equivalent in education/experience.
• No experience required; recent grads considered.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Microsoft Office expertise.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Self-motivated; able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to travel as business needs dictate (up to 25%).

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration, diagnostic and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and/or equipment.
• Coordinate the repair of instrumentation and calibration of equipment with 3rd party vendors.
• Ensure timely turn-around time on all instrumentation and equipment calibration services.
• Conduct equipment review following the return of calibrated equipment.
• Maintain accurate calibration records.
• Maintain instrumentation and/or equipment list(s).
• Ensure preventative maintenance of equipment is performed timely and effectively.
• Review all calibration documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Create or maintain Calibration Certificates.
• Perform or assist in performing suspect equipment investigations.
• Assist with writing/updating procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist and support Design Services Engineers as needed.
• Perform other work as required.
