Job summary

LER TechForce is seeking a Controls and Calibration Engineer to work onsite in Bridgeport, AL. The ideal candidate has marine or motorsports calibration experience and will develop engine calibration for high-power gasoline outboard motors.

The role involves full motor assembly calibration, control system support, issue resolution, and client interfacing. Some travel to other sites is expected as part of supplier/customer collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in engine calibration or related disciplines (marine and/or motorsports).
• Background in calibrating Engine Management Systems.
• Knowledge of traditional calibration and data analysis tools.
• Sound understanding of engine fundamentals.
• Customer-facing role and travel to other sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop calibration for high-power gasoline outboard motor.
• Calibrate at full outboard motor assembly level (on boat).
• Support control system development for transmission and steering.
• Resolve issues and provide integration support.
• Perform technical analysis with sound evidence base.
• Deliver tasks on time, within cost and quality constraints.
• Liaise with wider team to deliver activities.
• Interface with the client on technical issues.
• Report technical status internally and to customers.
• Supervise junior team members on assigned tasks.

What you will be doing:

• Technical development of calibration for high-power gasoline outboard motor.
• Calibration development predominantly on full outboard motor assembly level (on boat).
• Support development of control systems for transmission and steering.
• Issues resolution and integration support.
• Technical analysis to achieve tasks with sound evidence base.
• Responsibility for delivering assigned tasks to time, cost, and quality.
• Liaison with wider team members to organize and deliver project activities as required.
• Interface directly with client on technical issues.
• Reporting of technical status internally and to customers.
• Supervision of junior team members on assigned tasks.

What you'll need to be successful:

• Calibration and/or controls background with a number of years of experience successfully delivering projects in engine calibration or related disciplines (marine and/or motorsports).
• Technical background in the calibration of Engine Management Systems.
• Knowledge of traditional calibration and data analysis tools.
• Sound understanding of engine fundamentals.
• Capability to resolve technical issues.
• Ability to liaise with customers on a regular basis; role is significantly supplier- and customer-facing.
• Role is primarily based in Bridgeport, Alabama; a certain amount of business travel is expected, including customer meetings and travel to other sites.
