Job summary

Intertek Caleb Brett in Romeoville, IL seeks a Chemical Laboratory Technician to perform chemical and physical analyses on petroleum products under supervision.

The role requires accuracy, ability to operate instrumentation, maintain records, and support calibration and safety. This is an on-site position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Job Responsibilities

The Laboratory Technician will support the Caleb Brett business by, under immediate supervision, and in a training capacity, efficiently performing various chemical and physical analyses, primarily on petroleum products. We’re looking for someone with an ability to utilize non‑complex and complex instrumentation.

• Performs numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Cleans glassware and test equipment
• Assists with preparing reagents as needed
• Records data on appropriate data sheets and reports data to LIMS system
• Responsible for maintaining quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
• Responsible for complying with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements
• Participates in cross training as needed

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $25 - $27/hr. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons.

Minimum Education Required

• Prefer successful completion of at least one semester of college level chemistry or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
