Job summary

Intertek Caleb Brett in Signal Hill, CA is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform ASTM-based tests, read test methods, and ensure safe, accurate results in a busy on-site lab. Responsibilities include sample prep, equipment calibration, data entry into the LIMS system, maintaining quality records and lab inventory, and complying with safety standards.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 0800–1700 with on-call after hours; pay is $25.00–$30.00 per hour, plus medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must demonstrate ability to multi-task in high production testing areas.
• Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation.
• Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on ASTM methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas.
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, quality and basic troubleshooting.
• Clean glassware and test equipment.
• Assist with preparing reagents as needed.
• Record data on appropriate data sheets and reports data to LIMS system.
• Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories.
• Comply with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements.
• Participate in cross training as needed.

What are we looking for?

The Laboratory Technicianis responsible for reading, understanding, and performing test methods, safely and accurately.

Shift/Schedule:

Monday Thru Friday 0800-1700, with after hours and weekend on call schedule, as needed.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, quality and basic troubleshooting
• Clean glassware and test equipment
• Assist with preparing reagents as needed
• Record data on appropriate data sheets and reports data to LIMS system
• Responsible for maintaining quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
• Responsible for complying with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements
• Participate in cross training as needed

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must demonstrate ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
• Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation
• Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Prefer successful completion of at least one semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
• Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Some experience in petroleum testing industry
• GC Experience
• Experience with Octane Engines
