Job summary

Tony's Fresh Market in Illinois seeks a Pastry Decorator to support the bakery department by preparing fresh baked goods daily, labeling and storing them, and decorating cakes and pastries for customers. The role emphasizes quality, accuracy, and friendly service in a fast-paced team environment.

You will work with the pastry team to prepare desserts, maintain product displays, take orders, and help ensure freshness and presentation.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Handlers Card.
• Customer service, pastry decorating, and retail experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Assist Pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed.
• Take cake orders, ensure the department has fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case.
• Support team with baking various breads, cookies, and desserts.
• Decorate cakes and pastries for customers.
• Use artistic skills to create decorated cakes and pastries and mix icing colors; coordinate with management and baking team for needs.
• Conduct inventory to maintain proper levels.
• Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, safety, and sanitation.
• Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy; rotate and discard outdated items.
• Operate bakery equipment (heat sources, mixers, blenders).
• Take food orders in person and by telephone.
• All other duties as assigned.
