Base pay range

$15.50/hr - $29.20/hr

As a Bakery Decorator, you'll be responsible for creating and decorating cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items. Your artistic talents will ensure that every detail is perfect, providing outstanding service and delicious treats that meet our quality standards. You'll also support our Core Values and initiatives, and adhere to Food Safety and compliance duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate bakery items following standard procedures to meet demand.
• Prioritize production and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Merchandise products and monitor quality and freshness.
• Support and guide Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create custom cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work environment.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties, including signage and pricing accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements

• Proficient in cake and pastry decorating, including piping and decorative flowers.
• Understanding of color theory for blending and coordinating colors.
• Ability to use various icings and apply proper techniques.
• Follow recipes and procedures with effective time management.
• Advanced knife handling and safety skills.
• Basic math skills for recipe adjustments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic.

Experience

• 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience preferred.
• Completion of Bakery Decorator Apprentice training or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
• Use hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Work in various temperatures and conditions, including wet and dry environments.
• Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Operate tools and heavy machinery, possibly using ladders.
