Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about products and cake preparation. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously. Take customer orders over the phone or in person, ensuring a positive attitude. Determine customer preferences for size, flavor, and appearance. Create finished decorated products in a timely manner.
2. Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific or custom designs. Uses various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent results. Prepares icing for cakes and related items, adhering to approved recipes.
3. Trims and cuts cakes to required shapes and sizes. Applies icing between layers and on surfaces. Tints white icing to required colors.
4. Assists in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, adhering to production logs. Creates cakes, pastries, etc., for sale. Follows rotation and markdown policies to ensure quality and freshness. Maintains inventory levels through proper ordering and logging.
5. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
6. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
7. Responsible for sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and guidelines to keep work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases clean and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
8. Ensures smooth department and store operation by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Uses all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
10. May assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodation. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years’ experience in decorating
