Job Description

• Experience Required: Completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes, transporting products from prep to sales area.
• Follow procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Take special orders via phone and in person.
• Maintain product quality by checking sales area for freshness and date codes.
• Record daily known loss.
• Prioritize safety for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service, assisting guests in locating and choosing products.
• Inspire colleagues and guests with passion for food and willingness to go the extra mile.
• Handle products and equipment according to safety and food safety guidelines.
• Keep equipment, work areas, and utensils clean and sanitized.
• Prepare and decorate products for display, ensuring freshness and proper rotation.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain department procedures, including setup, order taking, and product knowledge.
• Stay updated on new products and procedures, including cake decorating, portion control, and seasonal items.
• Ice and decorate cakes using icing and decorating tools.
• Prepare icing and decorations by reading recipes and measuring ingredients.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom efficiency.
• Operate department equipment safely, including mixers, scales, and decorating tools.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
