Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Laboratory Animal Care Technician to assist with care and maintenance of laboratory animals and facilities. The role requires adhering to PPE and safety protocols and maintaining clean, sanitized animal housing and work areas.

No prior experience is required, and the position supports on-site operations with a focus on safety and compliance within a busy animal care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to follow established sanitation and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Comply with required PPE and safety protocols.
• Operate cage washing and processing equipment and monitor logs.
• Operate autoclave equipment and maintain autoclave logs.
• Process animal caging, add bedding and enrichment appropriately.
• Maintain storage, restrooms, and break rooms to ensure sanitization.
• Follow housekeeping duties and ensure attendance per schedule.
