Job summary

The role requires a High School Diploma and 1 year of related experience preferred; ALAT certification or related Lab Animal Research Support Staff program is preferred.

Qualifications

• Familiar with specialized animal housing considerations to include infectious agent containment and barrier concepts.
• Working knowledge of federal animal welfare regulations and AAALAC accreditation standards.
• Working knowledge of animal technician safety precautions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follows SOPs to ensure personal safety, biosecurity, and compliance with regulations.
• Processes cages and accessories using washers and autoclaves with proper sanitation.
• Delivers cages and accessories to animal holding rooms.
• Mantains inventory in the clean and sterile areas and supports other caging areas as needed.
• Performs preventive maintenance on washers, autoclaves, racks, and related equipment.
• Acts as a trainer or onboarding partner for newer staff.
