Job description

Position Summary

Under general direction from the Cage Supervisor, safeguards the assets of the casino by executing monetary transactions for guests in an accurate, professional and courteous manner and in accordance with established policies, procedures and gaming regulations.

This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Records all cash coming into the cage area; maintains accurate inventory and balance of monies and chips received.
  • Executes accurate monetary transactions for casino patrons in a prompt and courteous manner according to established policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Operates front cage window, including but not limited to items such as cashing patron checks, purchasing and redeeming chips, and redeeming coupons and complimentary items for cash according to specified guidelines.
  • Maintains accuracy of the chip bank inventory, pit fills and credits as well as the transfer of funds in the jackpot window.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and signatures on all required transactions.
  • Maintains an accurate count of the frontline, jackpot and chip banks.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Performs drop and count procedures in accordance with gaming and company regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Issue and drop employee banks.
  • Control, safeguard, reconcile, verify and report assigned Cage inventory and assets.
  • Adhere to governmental regulations, Casino-wide and Cage policies, procedures and processes.
  • Sell tickets, gift certificates, etc., as required.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of assigned areas and alert management of any hazards throughout the Cage and the Casino.
  • Provide prompt, courteous guest service to both internal and external guests at all times, following guest service standards.
  • Provide information to guests regarding Casino locations, events, promotions, activities and offerings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

All Cage forms applicable for processing and/or documenting transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required unless waived by Human Resources Management. One year cashiering experience preferably in a casino or banking environment. Must meet all knowledge, skills and abilities. Excellent interpersonal communication, guest service, attention to detail and problem solving skills required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and record keeping practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of casino software programs and equipment related to cage operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete and pass Title 31 training and assessment.
  • Ability to operate a calculator, adding machine, and cash advance machines.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co‑workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for prolonged periods, walk and sit; use hands for dexterity of motion; stoop, bend, kneel or crouch, and have normal auditory, visual acuity and verbal communications skills. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed indoors in a casino setting where employee may have frequent contact with the public and be exposed to second hand smoke, moderate/high noise levels, dirt, dust and unpleasant odors. Prolonged sitting, walking, or extended work hours including swing shifts, evenings, holidays and weekends may be required.
