Job summary

Rockford Public School District 205 is seeking a Nutrition Services Cafeteria Worker to prepare and serve attractive, nutritious meals in a clean, friendly environment.

You'll assist with setup, restocking, counting daily production records, maintaining USDA reimbursement compliance, and upholding health and safety standards.

Strong communication, willingness to learn, and possible bilingual ability are valued; HS diploma required; food service experience preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with service line setup and restocking during meal periods.
  • Serve meals and ensure meals are reimbursable per USDA regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and address inquiries.
  • Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, and dishwashing.
  • Follow Health Department food safety standards.
  • Assist with accurate counting for daily production records.
  • Assist with receiving and putting away orders.

Nutrition Services Cafeteria Worker

Department: Nutrition Services | Supervisor: Nutrition Services Field Supervisor

Purpose of the Position

Serves the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Assists with service line set up and restocking throughout meal periods.
  • Serves menu options to students according to district recipes and menus.
  • Provides excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ensures all meals are reimbursable according to USDA regulations.
  • Ensures accommodation of dietary modifications and food allergies for students.
  • Assists with accurate counting for completion of daily production records.
  • Assists with cleaning and sanitizing service area, prep stations and dishes.
  • Assists with receiving and putting away orders.
  • Follows all Health Department standards to ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Food Services experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
