Job summary

Acushnet Public Schools seeks a part-time Cafeteria Worker to float between two cafeterias for 3.5 hours per day. You will assist in preparing and serving meals, maintain a clean and safe kitchen, and ensure proper handling of money and records under the supervision of the Food Service Director.

Starting immediately, you’ll participate in the National School Lunch Program, follow all regulations, attend trainings, and help with inventory and promotional activities to encourage meal participation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks to support the National School Lunch Program daily operations, including food prep, equipment operation, serving, sanitation, storage and cleaning.
  • Adhere to all state, federal and local regulations for preparation, serving, sanitation, and storage of food.
  • Be responsible for security of lunch money and receipts.
  • Maintain accurate counting of all meals and a la carte items served.
  • Keep records and reports as directed by the Food Service Director.
  • Assist with monthly physical inventory of food, supplies and related equipment.
  • Attend job-related training classes and workshops.
  • Follow sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean, safe kitchen and cafeteria environment.
  • Follow safety procedures in preparing, storing and serving meals.
  • Attend training in fire extinguisher use for emergencies and in basic first aid techniques.
  • Assist with promotional marketing activities to encourage participation in meal programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Job Description

3.5 Hours per day as a floater between two cafeteria's

To prepare and serve nutritious, appealing, delicious high quality meals in a team environment that students will enjoy in an efficient, clean, safe environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Perform assigned tasks as instructed by the Food Service Director that allows for complete operation of the National School Lunch Program on a daily basis. This includes all preparation, equipment operation, serving, sanitation, storage and cleaning tasks.
  2. Adhere to all State, Federal and Local regulations for preparation, serving, sanitation, quality standards and storage of food
  3. Responsible for the security of lunch money and receipts
  4. Maintain an accurate accounting of all meals and a la carte items served
  5. Maintain accurate records and reports as assigned by the Food Service Director
  6. Assist Food Service Director with monthly physical inventory of all food, supplies, and related equipment
  7. Attend job related training classes and workshops
  8. Follows and practices appropriate procedures for sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean, safe, kitchen and cafeteria environment
  9. Follows and practices appropriate safety procedures in preparing, storing, and serving meals
  10. Attend training in and operates fire extinguisher equipment in emergency situations
  11. Attend training in and performs basic first aid techniques in emergency situations
  12. Assist Food Service Director with promotional marketing activities to encourage and enhance participation in meal programs
  13. Perform other appropriate duties consistent with this job goal or as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Compensation will be in accordance with the salary scale outlined in the ATA collective bargaining agreement.
