Job summary

Kids for the Future Cafeteria position in South Bend, IN, is seeking a team member to assist in preparing and serving meals for high school students. You will help with hot and cold foods, maintain clean work areas, and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.

The role requires a High School Diploma (or GED) and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; you may perform cashiering duties in line with NSLP regulations. This is a part-time, on-site position in a fast-paced school environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and carry out basic kitchen instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Skilled in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Follows procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot or cold foods.
• Serves food to high school age children.
• As needed, replenishes foods, condiments, beverages, and serving trays.
• Clean and maintain work areas.
• Washes pots, pans, and other service ware ensuring sanitary handling.
• May perform cashiering duties following NSLP regulations.
• Table washing.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Must be able to be on your feet for your scheduled shift.
• Work involves using sanitizer products and equipment cleaning chemicals.
