Job summary

Burke County Board of Education's School Nutrition Program seeks a Substitute to assist in meal service and related duties in the school cafeteria. Under supervision, you will help with food prep, serving meals, cleaning, and basic record keeping to ensure sanitary, efficient operation.

Ideal candidates can lift up to 50 pounds, work in warm or cold environments, and follow safety protocols. Prior food prep knowledge is desirable but not required; training provided under the Cafeteria Manager.

Qualifications

• Basic food preparation and sanitation knowledge (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Serve meals at serving line and assist with a la carte items.
• Perform light food preparation tasks such as washing fruits/vegetables and assembling salads.
• Keep serving lines clean and stocked by coordinating with coworkers.
• Clean kitchen area and equipment to meet sanitation codes; wash pots and utensils.
• Perform housekeeping tasks in kitchen and dining area (sweeping, mopping, tables).
• Assist with opening canned items and stocking coolers as directed.
• Assist with storing deliveries and putting away food and supplies.
