Overview

POSITION: Cafeteria General Worker

LOCATION: District Wide

START DATE: August 17, 2026

DEADLINE DATE: Until Filled

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsibility to be able to work with the School Cafeteria Manager.

WORK YEAR: Based on 192 days

Responsibilities
  • Assist the School Manager with the development of standards, methods, and procedures for the purchasing, receiving, storage and distribution of food, supplies, and equipment, food preparation, meal services, sanitation procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with approved food preparation and service procedures, including use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation and quality of food.
  • Forecast food and material required for the daily operations of the cafeteria.
  • Assist with preparation and serving of daily meals.
  • Prepare and complete all required reports and records (daily production records, inventories, and ordering).
  • Assist in washing dishes, pots/pans, equipment and tables.
  • Maintain, receive and store inventory and inform staff of any necessary changes to menus as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education/Training/Requirements: High school diploma, ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain within a short period of time. One to five years' experience in food service, or closely related field, with experience or training in institutional cooking.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Full knowledge of National School Breakfast and Lunch guidelines and requirements; knowledge of food preparation methods and operation of food service equipment; broad knowledge of kitchen duties and equipment; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees, school staff, students and the general public; ability to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Physical Requirements: Stand for extended periods; able to carry, move and store food and supplies up to 40 lbs; tolerate temperatures from –10°F to 40°F for periods up to 30 minutes in the freezer.
