Job summary

Windsor Public Schools is seeking a General Food Service Worker to support school meal preparation, service, and sanitation across district facilities. This part-time role operates 3.75–4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar.

The position involves assisting with meal preparation, serving students, handling duties around sanitation, and maintaining accurate records. Candidate should be reliable, able to work with a team, and willing to travel between district

Qualifications

• Previous food service or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general food preparation.
• Prepare, portion, and serve meals according to department procedures and meal pattern requirements.
• Assist students in selecting meal components while maintaining a positive and welcoming food service environment.
• Operate kitchen equipment as assigned.
• Assist with serving line setup, breakdown, and daily meal service operations.
• Accept deliveries and assist with proper storage, inventory, and stocking of food and supplies.
• Maintain accurate daily production records and required documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas, kitchen equipment, utensils, serving areas, and dining spaces.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and health department guidelines.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and in-service activities as required.
• Maintain positive public relations with students, staff, families, and the school community.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

This is a 3.75 - 4 hour per day, Monday - Friday, 10 month position following the school calendar.

The General Food Service Worker assists with school meal preparation, service, and sanitation. This position works as part of the Food Service team to ensure students receive nutritious meals in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, employees must be able to:

• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout kitchen areas for extended periods.
• Lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds as needed.
• Work effectively in a fast paced school food service environment.
