Job summary

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge in The Dalles, OR, is seeking a Café Server to greet guests, take orders, and serve food and beverages in the hospital café. You will process payments, maintain a clean dining area, and support beverage preparation following established quality standards.

The role emphasizes guest engagement, following recipes, managing inventory, and upholding food safety and sanitation guidelines in a full-time setting with flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent preferred.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree in culinary arts preferred.
• One-year experience in food and beverage service with guest engagement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and sells food, coffee and other beverages by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques established by the Café.
• Welcomes guests and helps to determine their food and beverage interests and needs.
• Sells food, coffees and other beverages by explaining the daily offerings and finding out guests’ needs.
• Generates revenues by attracting new guests; defines new and expanded services and products.
• Maintains FOH inventories as assigned by the Café Manager including replenishing product supply, stocking orders, inventory and tableware.
• Keeps equipment operating; follows safety and sanitation standards.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Cafe Server will greet guests, answer their questions, take orders, accept payments, and serve food and prepare beverages. They will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand their knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation as outlined in the Café operations manual.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree in culinary arts or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• One-year previous experience in food and beverage service with an emphasis on guest engagement and experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Food Handler Card in state of employment: Required
• Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or Multnomah County Food Handler (FH) or Food Safety Professionals (FSP) or ServSafe (SERVSAFE): Required

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• Driver's License (DL): Required

Essential Functions

• Prepares and sells food, coffee and other beverages by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques established by the Café.
• Welcomes guests and helps to determine their food and beverage interests and needs. Sells food, coffees and other beverages by explaining the daily offerings and finding out guests’ needs. Dedicated to providing excellent guests service and improving the guest’s experience.
• Generates revenues by attracting new guests; defining new and expanded services and products. Educates guests by presenting and explaining the food, coffee and other beverage menu; answers questions.
• Maintains FOH inventories as assigned by the Café Manager to include; replenishing product supply, stocking orders received, taking inventory and maintaining tableware products and supplies.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. -Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
