Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a food service associate to support patient and customer meals in our hospital cafeteria. You will prepare, portion and garnish foods, manage sandwich prep, bake items, and work hot station areas, while keeping accurate cash drawer, utensils, and station setup.

You will plan catering deliveries, restock and communicate needs to production staff, assemble patient meals for special trays, and maintain sanitary conditions.

Qualifications

• Some High School required.
• Certificate 1 Serve Safe preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Six months to one year of food service experience.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• All foods plated/portioned according to standards and menu quantities.
• Prepares protein salads, vegetables, fruits, sandwiches, etc.
• Works in grill/pizza areas and finishes baking of frozen items.
• Handles cash register and ensures drawer accuracy.
• Plans catering deliveries and coordinates setup/break-down of events.
• Sets up stations and serves food during meal service.
• Assembles patient meals and prepares items to par levels.
• Follows procedures for special trays (Kosher, Low Bacteria, Isolation, Psychiatry, Gastric By-pass).
