Job summary

Fresh Start CoffeeWorks seeks a Café Manager in Greenville, SC to lead daily café operations, often working behind the bar while guiding the team. You’ll manage scheduling, inventory, standards, and intern development, coaching Baristas and Shift Leads to foster a welcoming environment.

As a hands‑on leader, you’ll report to the Supervisor, communicate needs, and ensure consistent service quality, hospitality, and efficiency across all cafe activities and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Regularly work behind the bar as part of the café team.

• Help maintain opening, closing, cleaning, and procedures.
• Identify and communicate equipment or facility issues.
• Manage weekly staff scheduling and café coverage.
• Assist the Supervisor in training Baristas and Shift Leads.
• Help create a positive, welcoming, team-oriented environment.
• Communicate staffing needs or concerns to the Supervisor.
• Inventory & Ordering; oversee weekly counts and organization.
• Track supplies and identify items to order; provide weekly counts & recommendations.
• Minimize waste and maintain inventory levels.
• Maintain regular communication with Supervisor; provide monthly operational report.
• Report significant operational or customer-service concerns promptly.
• Support intern development; coach Fresh Start interns.

Job description

The Café Manager serves as the primary day‑to‑day leader of the Fresh Start CoffeeWorks café and reports directly to the Fresh Start CoffeeWorks Supervisor.

This is a hands‑on leadership position. The Café Manager will regularly work behind the bar while also providing leadership to the café team, managing scheduling and inventory, maintaining café standards, and helping coach and develop Fresh Start interns.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, hospitable, and passionate about both excellent coffee and developing people.

Primary Responsibilities

• Regularly work behind the bar as part of the café team.
• Help ensure smooth and efficient daily café operations.
• Maintain high standards for coffee quality, drink preparation, hospitality, cleanliness, and organization.
• Help maintain opening, closing, cleaning, and operational procedures.
• Identify and communicate equipment or facility issues as they arise.

Manage weekly staff scheduling and café coverage.

Assist the Fresh Start CoffeeWorks Supervisor in training and developing Baristas and Shift Leads.

Help create a positive, welcoming, and team‑oriented work environment.

Communicate staffing needs or concerns to the Supervisor.

• Inventory & Ordering
• Oversee weekly inventory counts and café organization.
• Track coffee, milk, syrups, food, paper goods, cleaning products, and other café supplies.
• Identify products and supplies that need to be ordered.
• Provide weekly inventory counts and ordering recommendations to the Supervisor.
• Help minimize unnecessary waste and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Reporting & Communication

• Maintain regular communication with the Fresh Start CoffeeWorks Supervisor regarding café operations.
• Provide a monthly operational report covering staffing, inventory, café needs, and ongoing issues or opportunities.
• Communicate significant operational, staffing, or customer‑service concerns in a timely manner.

Intern Development & Mission

• Help coach and develop Fresh Start interns as they gain real‑world work experience.
• Model professionalism, dependability, hospitality, teamwork, and healthy workplace habits.
• Help create a safe and encouraging environment where interns can build confidence and develop valuable workplace skills.
• Represent the mission and values of Fresh Start CoffeeWorks and Miracle Hill Ministries through interactions with staff, interns, customers, and community partners.
