Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a Cafe Cook to prepare and reheat meals for patients, visitors and staff following standard recipes. The role supports patient care through timely meal service and adherence to food safety guidelines.

Requires 1–3 years in commercial/institutional food prep, a High School diploma or GED, and Serv-Safe or VA Dept. of Health certification (or ability to obtain within one year). Strong teamwork and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepares and/or reheats food for patients, visitors and employees following standard recipes/guidelines.

• Participates in department activities and meetings (orientation, customer satisfaction, cost-reduction, inspection readiness).
• Completes general food service tasks (cashier, tray assembly and delivery, dishwashing).
• Under general supervision; complex issues referred to supervisor.

Duties may be complex and non-routine. Resolves most issues and problems, but refers the most complex issues and problems to supervisor. Under general supervision. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position. Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems helpful. Cleaning and other duties as assigned.**Compensation Range:**$18.70 - $26.18*Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience.
